Traditional Berber vertical loom with partially woven cream rug

Our Artisans — The Women Behind OwnCrafted

Made in Our Oued Zem Workshop

OwnCrafted rugs are made in our own workshop in Oued Zem, Morocco. Our team includes 21 women artisans who prepare and weave rugs by hand using 100% natural sheep wool, including the foundation, and plant-based dyes.

Craft, Supervised Every Day

Founder Adil Lemhamdi checks the work in the workshop every day. If a detail needs correction, it is addressed during production—not after the rug leaves the workshop. This daily oversight is how we protect the quality of every made-to-order rug.

A Family Knowledge

Adil grew up watching his mother make Moroccan rugs. Although she is no longer able to work at the loom, her experience remains an important source of advice and consultation.

Fair, Regular Work

The artisans work directly with OwnCrafted. Most are paid a regular monthly salary, while some are paid at the end of each week according to their working arrangement. We do not publish private employee details, photographs or personal stories without their consent.

Follow Your Rug as It Is Made

Every current rug is made to order. Production can take up to 30 days. During that time, customers can receive progress photos or videos daily or every two days. When the rug is complete, we send final photos and video and reconfirm the delivery address and phone number. Nothing ships without the customer’s approval.
