A Life Shaped by Moroccan Rugs

My name is Adil Lemhamdi, founder of OwnCrafted. I was born in 1987 in Morocco. My earliest memories of rugs come from watching my mother weave. She no longer works at the loom, but her experience and advice remain an important part of every decision I make.

After finishing my studies in 2009, I began selling Moroccan rugs in local markets. In 2017, I expanded internationally through eBay and Etsy. OwnCrafted is the next step: a direct, transparent way for customers to order from the people who actually make the rugs.

Our Workshop in Oued Zem

OwnCrafted works from its own workshop in Oued Zem, Morocco. Our team includes 21 women artisans who are paid regular monthly wages, with some paid weekly. I inspect the work every day so that any issue is corrected while the rug is still on the loom.

Customers may visit the workshop by appointment. Please contact us on WhatsApp before your visit so we can arrange a suitable time while respecting the privacy of our artisans.

Because every rug is handmade, small variations are part of the craft. For custom colors, we aim to match the approved design as closely as natural wool and hand dyeing allow.

Made With Your Approval

Production can take up to 30 days, depending on size and design. During weaving, we send progress photos or videos daily or every two days. Before shipping, we send detailed final photos and a video, then reconfirm your delivery address and telephone number. Nothing ships without your approval.

Meet the founder

Adil Lemhamdi

Born in 1987, Adil grew up watching his mother weave Moroccan rugs. The craft was part of daily life long before it became his profession, and her knowledge still guides important decisions today.

After finishing his studies in 2009, he entered Morocco's traditional markets and began selling rugs. In 2017, he expanded internationally through eBay and Etsy. OwnCrafted is the next chapter: a direct website built to give customers clearer choices, closer communication and a genuine connection to the workshop.

Customers can discuss custom dimensions or color changes, follow production through photos and videos, and approve the finished rug before it leaves Morocco.
